Senior Director / VP Technology

Urbanfibre is currently seeking a Senior Director/VP of Technology to oversee network operations and provide technical direction for all aspects of the company.

About Urbanfibre

For over 30 years, Urbanfibre has delivered high performance, robust fibre optic network and internet services that businesses rely on for their mission critical needs.

We deliver Internet, Network, Telecom and Fibre services over 215+ Km of our own network covering the greater Vancouver region as well as beyond their network through carrier partners.

About the Role 

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Senior Director of Technology is a key member of the senior management team and leads a diverse and growing technical team of six who are responsible for Outside Plant operations, Inside Plant operations, Service Delivery and Technical Support. 

You will oversee all aspects of the maintenance and growth of our network and technology infrastructure to ensure the delivery of high performance, high availability services that our customers rely upon. The Senior Director of Technology will also work directly with enterprise customers to help engineer customized network solutions to meet their demanding needs.

Areas of Responsibility include:

  • Network Architecture, Strategic Planning
  • Technical Support and Escalations
  • Order Management and Order Design
  • Field Services Management
  • Solution design and development
  • Leadership

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, computer science, electronics or related field or equivalent industry experience.
  • 10 years of network operations, telecommunications technology
  • 3 years in a senior management leadership position.
  • Experience in ISP communications technologies and architecture.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to deal with customers and / or potential customers 
  • Advanced network troubleshooting skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • CCIE or equivalent

Networking specific skills: 

  • Advanced knowledge of DHCP/DNS/NTP/SNMP.
  • Advanced knowledge of STP, EVPN, VxLAN, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, PBR, DMVPN, QoS, MPLS, VPLS, Segment Routing, IPSEC, etc.
  • Network security and Firewalls, including IDS/IPS.

Knowledge Expertise:

  • Extensive hands-on knowledge in networks design (LAN / WAN) and telecommunications;
  • Knowledge of the OSI model and the main network protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SDN, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIP1&2, VLAN, VTP, Trunking, Port-Channeling, Spanning tree, FabricPath etc.);
  • Thorough knowledge of the management and support of routers, switches, load balancer to and next-generation firewalls (Cisco, Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Citrix, etc.)
  • Knowledge of cloud network (Azure VNet, AWS VPC)
  • Knowledge of virtual networking (SDN, NFV, Virtual contexts)

    Senior Director / VP Sales

    Urbanfibre is currently seeking a Senior Director/VP of Sales to oversee the sales function and be the engine of growth in the company’s key commercial market segment.

    About the Role 

    Reporting directly to the CEO, the Senior Director/VP of Sales is a key member of the senior management team who will lead our growing commercial sales team and drive revenue to meet aggressive growth targets. 

    What you’ll do:

    • Own full accountability for the overall performance of sales and deliver effective strategies designed to support revenue growth, such as inbound/outbound approach, pipeline generation, upsells, renewals and increasing win/loss rates;
    • Define revenue objectives, design competitive and effective commission strategies and KPIs to ensure the Sales team remains motivated and driven to meet individual sales plan and targets;
    • Manage the sales pipeline, revenue growth targets, and go to market strategies to ensure a smooth transition from Sales to Account Management and Customer Success after signing a new client;
    • Identify, target, win and nurture business development opportunities and strategic partnerships that will add significant value;
    • Responsible for building sales volume from enterprise customers and channel sales 
    • Boost sales productivity by refining customer segmentation/territory management, simplifying the sales process and identifying pain points at every stage of the sale funnel;
    • Be an active contributor to the sales targets by building and maintaining a sales funnel
    • Manage and support the Sales team on pricing, deal structuring, product configuration, and business terms to drive agreement closure
    • Ensure that the development of internal and external sales tools and reporting are managed effectively;
    • A hands-on approach to the role in helping team members sell, negotiate and close deals;
    • Represent Sales on cross-functional initiatives, keeping leadership and stakeholders informed on cross-functional work streams, risks and opportunities;
    • Cultivate close relationships with Product, Provisioning, Engineering, Customer Support and Marketing teams to drive solutions for services on offer;
    • Implement Sales development and training programs focused on developing the team to be trusted advisors and category experts.

    What you’ll bring:

    • You have a minimum of 6 years of successful management and leadership experience in the telecommunications or related industry;
    • At least 10 years of B2B service sales experience;
    • A solid understanding of the network and communications space
    • An analytics, metrics and process approach to sales and sales management
    • Coach and mentor the existing sales team with the ability to consult and provide feedback, resolve conflicts and facilitate decision making;
    • Proven success in growing existing accounts, relationships and the ability to create strong relationships with complex customers;
    • Ability to drive cross-functional alignment and coordination across Sales and other teams;
    • Problem solving and strategic thinking with an urge to help people; break down ambiguous problems into manageable components and create optimal solutions;
    • A strong business acumen, analytics, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and project-management skills;
    • Ability to adapt to changing requirements and new environments, as well as embrace fast-pace change with a lens to seek ways to constantly improve;

      Product Marketing Manager

      Urbanfibre is currently seeking a Product Marketing Manager to formulate a product delivery strategy to solve real problems for our customers and create value for the company.

      About the Role 

      We are looking for a very talented person to join our team and spearhead our commercial and residential services offering and ensure that we continue to exceed the expectations of our customers while delivering in-demand products and services that meet top line business objectives. 

      This is a new position that requires you to be an advocate for the customer and have a deep understanding of what drives behaviour in our market.

      The Product Manager requires sound business acumen and will take full product ownership including product vision, go-to-market strategies, customer experience, product lifecycle management, business planning, benchmarking and customer acquisition.

      Responsibilities will include:

      • Product ownership over commercial and residential portfolio
      • Establish and achieve customer acquisition and revenue targets
      • Establish / maintain customer profiles
      • Gather and document requirements
      • Confirm or reset Product to Market fit including packaging/pricing
      • Develop and maintain competitive matrix and awareness of competitive threats.
      • Identify and map out processes and organizational impact
      • Create Need/Feature/Benefit tables
      • Update / maintain product roadmap
      • Research / plan product add-ons / improvements / additions
      • Create collateral matrix and guide creation of product collateral
      • Develop go to market plans and strategies and work with marketing to fulfill
      • Provide product line oversight including pricing, processes, placement, marketing promotion coordination and technology refresh.
      • Product/service demonstrations, and other customer interactions

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • University degree or equivalent experience is required.
      • Minimum of 5 years product management experience.
      • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external parties.
      • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
      • Strong communication (oral and written), analytical, decision making, negotiating, time management, problem solving and organizational skills.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio) applications.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Minimum of 3 years telecommunications experience desired.
      • Experience with Vendor Management.
      • Experience with residential market segment including understanding of customer needs.
      • Strong and effective communicator across the business to drive continuity
      • A positive, “can do” attitude
      • Thrives in a fast paced, self-learning environment.
      • Has an extreme passion and commitment for driving results
